Friday 2 - Monday 5 May. Glen Brittle, Skye. Walking,
scrambling and climbing in The Cuillins. Joint with Scotland/Northern
Climbers
Sunday 11 May. Chilterns Hike. Saunderton via Bledlow
Ridge Hike - 10.8 miles. This walk is through a peaceful part
of the rolling Chiltern Hills and has one or two steep hills,
but otherwise gradients are gentle and there are many fine
views out over the valley and plain. Meet at Marylebone station
to take the train to Saunderton or meet at Saunderton train
station.
Sunday 25 May - Sunday 1 June. Rafting the Colorado River,
Utah, USA. A 3-day Green River trip (May 25-27) then a 4-day
Cataract Canyon trip May 29-June 1. The rafting trip will
be down the Colorado River through Canyonlands National Park,
Utah. We shall be going through Cataract Canyon second only
to the Grand Canyon as a whitewater ride. We shall be doing
this in late May /early June when the water is at its most
exciting level. To do this safely, we will be in large stable
motorised inflatable rafts.
You will be provided with full safety equipment. The trip
will last for 4 days after which we will fly back to our start
point at Moab (Utah) and probably spend some time hiking in
the Canyonlands National Park. The 3 day rafting trip on the
Green River cuts through mountains of the Wild West Badlands,
creating the stunning scenery of the Gates of Ladore and Echo
Valley. On this trip we would be using paddled rafts.
Prices: These are approximated assuming a dollar/ pound exchange
rate of 2 to 1. The 4 days Cataract Canyon rafting is about
£500 (includes flight back to Moab) and the Green River
(3 days) would be about another £350. For more details...
